How do I run reports when my hierarchy set-up uses Sub-Projects?

Updated on

When running reports, the set-up of the hierarchy impacts how the reports will run. If your set-up utilizes Sub-Projects, only selecting the top (or parent) project level will not include ay contracts beneath a sub-project and will only include the contracts directly beneath that level.

Follow along with the video below on how to properly run a report in CR-Certify for a top-level Project and all its sub-projects.

Sometimes, the hierarchy in CR-Certify is set up in a way that there is a top level project with several subprojects underneath it, like the example here. As you can see, all the contracts are beneath the subproject levels, but they all have a shared parent project of Riverside Medical Center Expansion. Say you want to run a report for Riverside and encapsulate all contracts under all subproject levels. Here's how to do this.

Navigate to the reports tab. This tutorial will work for any report with a Hierarchy or Project filter, but for this example I'm going to use the Dynamic Compliance Report. In the Hierarchy filter, it displays all clients your login has permission to see, and beneath that are all the projects that are connected to that client in some way. The contracts that show on the reports only have a direct relationship with their direct parent project, so that can make running an all encompassing report tricky if you aren't sure how to get there.

First, find the Search field within the filter. Then, type in the name of the Top Project level. As you can see, the subprojects beneath that top project level all say "(Under Riverside Medical Center Expansion)" beside their name. Press and hold the CTRL key as you click down the project list.

You can already see the report populating behind the dropdown menu, but once I've selected all the projects, click off and view the results. This report now only shows the subprojects beneath that Top Level project we were interested in examining. If we only selected "Riverside Medical Center" on its own, it would only display contracts that were directly beneath that top level, which is no contracts in this example.

Upon navigating away from the report, the filters automatically reset, so its fresh for whatever view
you need to see when you come back.
