Sometimes, you may need to edit a company's name, such as when the name was originally entered incorrectly, or if the company has a legal name change. Other times, you may need to add a company to an already existing Company File, such as when a company operates under a DBA.
On the Company File page, click the Edit button under the Company Names section. Then, edit the company name as desired; you can also edit the other fields if needed. Finally, hit Save.
You can change the company name for a contract. As long as the new company shares the same Company File as the previous company, all other information will remain the same.
On the contract home page, simply edit the Company Name section to the desired company, and click Save in the top right.
Please Note: When changing a company assigned to a contract and the new company does not share a Company File with the original company, several pieces of information will be cleared:
- The current compliance record for this contract will be cleared out.
- All roles from the People Tab will be unassigned.
- The address for the contract will be unselected.
- Any Company File documents associated with the original company will no longer display in the contract's Documents tab.
They will still exist in the Company File Documents tab for the original company, however.
