Determine if your file is a scanned file or an Adobe generated file

Scanned File

Content is not selectable and there are often visual indications – such as the image is slightly askew or there are blemishes on the page

Expand or collapse content If you have Adobe 9:
  • From the Document menu, select Reduce File Size
  • Select OK in the Reduce File Size box shown below.
Expand or collapse content If you have Adobe X or higher:
  • From the File menu, select Save As, then Reduced Size PDF.
  • Then select OK in the Reduce File Size box shown below.

Adobe Generated

Content is selectable and crisp.

  • From the File menu, select Print
  • In the Print box, set the printer as Adobe PDF and select OK. You will need to save the file somewhere.
  • Once saved, via the newly saved document, reduce the file size again using the same feature mentioned previously above.

3. Choose "Reduced size" and then click "Optimize
