How to Combine Duplicate Companies and Company Files

As you use CR-Certify, you may accidentally create duplicate companies. The Combining Companies and Company Files features let you clean up these duplicates quickly and automatically. 

  • Combine Companies: Use when multiple company names appear in the same company file that should be merged together
  • Combine Company Files: Use when you have completely separate company files (with different URLs) that represent the same company

When you combine companies,

  • All contracts from the old companies are automatically re-assigned to the company you keep
  • Addresses and attributes from the old companies are added to the new company

To combine companies, simply choose the company you want to keep, and click the double arrow icon next to the company name.

Once you see the Combine Companies pop-up, choose the company names you wish to combine with the current one. Then, click "Combine". 

After a few seconds, you'll see a success message confirming the combination is complete.

When you combine company files,

  • All company names, addresses, contacts, and documents will be transferred from the old file to the file you keep
  • The old company file is erased
  • Any contract attached to either company file is unaffected

Company Insurance does not transfer when you combine company files. Before combining, double check that that the company insurance for the company file that you're keeping has the correct information. 

When you combine company files, you should have both open in separate tabs or windows. Choose the company file you want to keep, and click the "Combine Company File" button in the top right.

When you see the "Combine Company Files" pop-up, copy and paste the company file ID from the URL of the company file that you're getting rid of. Then, hit "Combine".

After a few seconds, you can refresh the page. All company names, addresses, contacts, and documents transferred from the previous company file to the company file that you chose to keep.
